Text Box: This month’s column is short but don’t mistake brevity as insignificant. I believe it is Kathleen Norris who declared that if you only have one prayer in your spiritual repertoire make it this: “thank you, thank you, thank you.”

I have many prayers in my pastoral toolbox but the one filled with nothing but gratitude is the one on my heart these days. Your welcome and generous (exceedingly and overwhelmingly so!) H.E.B., Home Depot, Lowe’s (does John moonlight there?), Bed, Bath and Beyond (you know who you are), and many other establishments, gift card shower stunned us. In addition many of you hauled sacks of groceries to our house for which we are so thankful. You folks know how to love and show affection.

You’ve given our family some remarkable gifts already and it leaves us almost speechless. Please hear our strong word of thanks to you, and thanks be to God, to whom our life of prayer and service is offered continually.

Thanks, thanks a lot!
